The thermostatic expansion valve regulates the flow of refrigerant liquid entering the evaporator. The flow is controlled by a thermal ball valve connected to the evaporator outlet suction line. The thermal bulb senses the evaporator heat and modulates the valve to allow refrigerant liquid entry depending on the refrigeration load.
